How to reach Tirumala

Getting to Tirupati by air, train or road, and then up the hill to Tirumala.

Step 1: get to Tirupati (airport at Renigunta, or Tirupati / Renigunta railway stations).

Step 2: go up the 22 km ghat road to Tirumala by bus or taxi, or walk the footpath.

By air

Tirupati Airport (TIR) at Renigunta has domestic flights from major Indian cities. From abroad, fly into Chennai or Bengaluru and continue by road, train or a domestic flight.

By train

Tirupati and Renigunta Junction are well connected to Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and the rest of India. Overnight trains are a popular way to arrive early for darshan.

Tirumala is about 22 km up the ghat road from Tirupati. APSRTC buses run frequently from the Tirupati bus stand and railway station, and taxis are easy to find. You can also walk up the Alipiri or Srivari Mettu footpath.
